OPDO "On The Ropes"
OPDO, a surrogate party that was initially organized
using MIA's and prisoners of war (POW) contrary to all international
laws and norms and later imposed on the Oromoo people
as their representative, is having a tough time
defending its record of the past decade. At every
WAFIDO rally, OPDO members and supporters are booed
and severely criticized for ignoring the Oromoo
people's cries and agony. They are reminded of their
inaction and insensitiveness when:
1. Our natural forests were willfully burnt down.
2. Oromo Students were singled out for expulsion from
Finfinnee University.
3. Machaa Tulamaa Organization was dissolved after 40
years of operation.
4. Oromia's capital city was forcefully moved from
Finfinnee to Adamaa. Students protesting that
decision were beaten up by a powerful
anti-demonstration force and thrown into jail.
These are but a few of the long list of questions and
criticisms posed to OPDO when they claim to represent
the interests of the Oromoo people.
With the recent attention and positive reaction WAFIDO
has received it is feared that the ruling party, EPRDF
might resort to violence to intimidate people from
attending WAFIDO sponsored meetings and events.
